Could be any number of things. Some people lose their faith in the face of personal tragedy e.g. losing a family member to a terminal disease. It could be that someone in the family did something evil in the name of religion. She probably doesnt' want to talk about it as its really hurts her and you need to respect that. If your relationship continues she may be willing to discuss it with you in the end
